Fantasy Foals

If you completed the What's in a Name activity, you know that owners often combine the sire and mare's names when naming a foal. The Jockey Club also has rules that must be followed before a racehorse's name can be registered.

Here are a few of the naming rules created by The Jockey Club:

  1. There can be no more than 18 letters, spaces, or punctuation marks in a name.
  2. You need special permission to use the name of a famous person.
  3. You cannot re-use the name of a "famous" horse.
  4. You cannot use curse words or words with a "bad" meaning.

Keeping these rules in mind, create a name for the foal whose parents are listed below and enter your choice in our Fantasy Foals Contest. Every few weeks we will choose the most clever name and post the winner here.
